A VTT, or Virtual Table Top, is simply your gaming table, but online. It is a space to roll your dice, share your stories, and dive into adventures, no matter where you are. Perfect for playing remotely, it can also become a helpful companion for your IRL sessions. At Minimal Roleplay, we see it as a tool that is light, flexible, and fun; exactly what you need to enjoy the game without overcomplicating it.

And an ecosystem , then?
An ecosystem is not just a virtual table. It is an entire universe built around a passion. In our case: roleplaying games. Rather than a single isolated tool, it is a set of experiences and features that fit together seamlessly to create something bigger: a complete space where roleplaying feels natural, accessible, and alive.

Why Minimal Roleplay ?
Because let's be honest: most VTTs today are powerful, complete, sometimes even impressive, but you often end up feeling trapped in a piece of software instead of immersed in a game. For players, that is already a bit rough. But for Game Masters? Even worse.
We believe that a hobby like roleplaying deserves better. That it can be modern without ever losing its simplicity. That it can be a space of fun and freedom, not a technical dashboard. This vision is what guides our interfaces and the way we create Minimal Roleplay.
There is also another challenge: accessibility. Roleplaying is growing fast, but it still feels elitist. The barriers are many: intimidating rules, lack of players, the need to improvise, fear of starting… all those reasons keep thousands of curious people from giving it a try. Our mission is clear: make roleplaying welcoming for everyone.
Minimal Roleplay is not here to be yet another clone built only for Dungeons & Dragons. Our ambition is for everyone to be able to discover and play their own way : through text, voice, or IRL. Whatever the medium, whatever the style, whatever the world. Because every day, thousands of new stories are written, and we want to offer a playground where all of them can thrive.

Two years of Minimal Roleplay until now
This page and this Kickstarter do not mark the beginning of Minimal Roleplay , but rather its crowning achievement. Over the past two years, our team has worked tirelessly to lay the foundations of this project, a solid base essential for shaping the future of the Virtual Table Top and reaching our loftiest ambitions.
A quick note: until now, we've been talking about early access to Minimal Roleplay. This Kickstarter marks the official launch of version 1.0 , but more on that shortly.
And what a journey these two years have been! Everything I'm about to show you below is already accessible. Even better, throughout the entire Kickstarter campaign, all features will be fully available and unrestricted, from October 1st to November 15, 2025.

PlayByPost
Text-based Virtual Tabletop
Minimal Play-by-Post is the text-based part of Minimal Roleplay, where players bring their characters to life by writing their dialogues and actions. Play-by-post is often seen as less fun than voice roleplay, since it doesn't allow emotions to be shared in real time. However, it offers many advantages: it combats “improphobia,” makes the game more accessible to new players, allows complex characters to be handled more easily, and encourages deeper development and roleplay. Thanks to its asynchronous nature , players don't need to coordinate their schedules to participate, making it easier to play with people they don't know or who speak different languages.

What's next?

One HUB to rule them all…
To connect all these sections, we designed Minimal Roleplay as a true video game launcher. This approach will be fully realized with version 1.0, but there’s no need to reveal everything just yet. In practice, you have access to your multiplayer games (PBP, Boards), your solo adventures (Adventures), the creator space (Sheets, Scenarios, Adventures), and Campfire. The entire ecosystem is designed to stay interconnected, and creation tools are directly accessible from your multiplayer games.
On top of that, the unified interfaces of the HUB span the entire platform. Here you’ll find an advanced notification system, a private chat with conversations, and a centralized gallery gathering all the media used in your games and creations.
The HUB also has the essential role of connecting players with their creations. You’ll discover numerous public galleries, character sheets, adventures, and scenarios, as well as a wide range of open games where you can join game masters looking for players.
Finally, to softly introduce Minimal Collection, we’ve started to add profile customization options. This is just the beginning, but it will be greatly expanded in the future. After all, we all enjoy showing off our stickers or dice, so why should it be any different on Minimal Roleplay?

Illustrations at Minimal Roleplay
We are often asked about our illustrations, and you probably already know why. The use of artificial intelligence to generate images remains a sensitive topic. While some enjoy it in a private and personal context, the perception changes entirely when it comes to publicly shared projects, and even more so when money is involved.
The good news is simple: all of our current illustrations are created by artists. We did rely on AI in the past, on a few prototypes, due to a lack of time and resources. But today, we work exclusively with creators. For example, we hold licenses for works by Tithi Luadthong.
As it becomes increasingly difficult to find free content that is both high-quality and aligned with the spirit of Minimal Roleplay, we recently partnered with a talented illustrator, Raidi, who created our beloved mascot Harold and continues to work with us on other projects.
Our position is clear: we will never use generative AI for our own content. Of course, we cannot forbid its use by the users of our tools. To keep as much control over this matter as possible, we have made an important decision that we will explain in more detail in the sections about the 1.0 updates further down this page.
Finally, regarding the protection of artists, our image upload system (presented earlier in the HUB section) allows users to add copyright information to link an illustration back to its creator and portfolio, even if the image is cropped or reused elsewhere. This feature is optional, but we have observed that many of our users take advantage of it, and some also use it to indicate when their images were generated by AI.

Community-driven development
Recently, we made an important decision: to listen even more closely to our community. As many already know through Discord and our various contact channels, we’re very attentive, and this commitment is now formalized with the launch of the community updates system.
The concept is simple: you suggest ideas, members vote for the most relevant features, and we integrate them into community-driven updates. We’re not necessarily the best positioned to decide what should be prioritized on Minimal Roleplay, which is why this system was created.
Of course, the same interface exists for reporting bugs, but votes aren’t needed for those! Thanks to this setup, feedback is clearer, and you can track in real time the suggestions being addressed and the features currently in development.

founders’ doors · Early access offer
In June 2024 , we launched our very first economic model. Its goal was to help support the project by covering various costs, while giving players the opportunity to provide financial support. In return, it offered access to different rewards, ranging from simple cosmetics all the way to a lifetime Minimal Roleplay subscription . You can explore everything included in these offers by clicking here.
Important: Minimal Roleplay will eventually adopt a paid subscription model. However, playing will always remain free. Only certain advanced features will be reserved for subscribers, with some limitations for free accounts. Our priority will always be the player experience: playing will never require payment.
In These current offers will soon disappear and will never return in this form or at these prices. The Kickstarter launch (or even slightly before) will mark the definitive closing of the Founders’ doors.
Finally, a word to our Founders : you believed in us based solely on promises, and we are deeply grateful. Your status will remain for life , along with the privileges attached to it. Thank you infinitely, if we’ve reached this point today, it’s thanks to your unwavering support.
The Founders’ Doors will close forever on October 1st.
These exclusive offers, which have been with us for over a year, are coming to an end and will never return. To mark this moment, we’ve decided to reward the luckiest among you: one Founders’ Door will be up for grabs in every Kickstarter update post during the entire pre-launch, until October 14th.
Make sure to follow this Kickstarter to stay notified (Notify me on launch) and check the updates to try your luck!

Languages and Availability
From the very beginning, we have strived to make Minimal Roleplay as accessible as possible. While this includes simple and user-friendly interfaces, linguistic accessibility remains our top priority. That’s why, at your request, Minimal Roleplay was first translated into French, then into Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. Depending on user feedback and needs, we remain open to adding more languages!
For user-generated content, we have developed a “magic button” that, in the future, will offer many features (we’ll go into more detail in the Minimal Roleplay 1.0 section). For now, and although it hasn’t been discovered yet, it already allows automatic translation of content into the player’s language.

Regarding availability, Minimal Roleplay can be accessed on Android via Google Play , on iPhone and iPad via the App Store , and in a browser version , naturally optimized for all screen sizes.

HUB Redesign
Since its very beginning, Minimal Roleplay has aimed to transform the Virtual Table Top experience, evolving it from a simple tool into a true video game experience . We are convinced that this approach will not only be more enjoyable and intuitive, but also a key step toward achieving our ultimate goal: making role-playing games accessible to everyone.
To bring this vision to life, we created the Minimal Roleplay 1.0 Hub , the interface that connects the entire ecosystem, much like a video game launcher. It’s a unified, welcoming, and intuitive space where you’ll find all the tools you need to communicate, start a session, and create the assets essential to role-playing.

Roleplayer card
Back in the spotlight, your roleplayer card is about to undergo a major evolution to be enhanced and gain value. For reference, this is your public profile on Minimal Roleplay: customizable and visible to all players.
With this new version, the card will benefit from numerous new features and even more customization options . Some details will be presented in the Minimal Collection section, but let’s take a first look at what’s coming!
Of course, your avatar remains at the heart of the card. It has grown in size and is now accompanied by your player name and a title from your collection.
To its left, the featured die has been redesigned: goodbye to the old stickers, and hello to a Diceball , which holds your favorite die from your collection . Around it, a new enhancement appears: the die ornament , creating a stylish visual link with the avatar.
Next, we discover the sticker board : a major new feature! Where previously only one sticker was highlighted, you now have an entire board with a customizable background . Like the back of a laptop, you can place as many stickers from your collection as you want.
Finally, the tour ends with the display of badges under the cover: founder, special statuses , and other distinctions.

Chat revamp: friends & guilds
Our private chat is leveling up! A complete overhaul is coming, bringing the ability to add friends, see their online/offline status, and enjoy much tighter integration within your HUB and across Minimal Roleplay.
The chat itself is getting a fresh new look: quick and convenient access, plus a dedicated full-screen mode for better readability. And of course, it will remain highly customizable to match your roleplayer card.
But that’s not all: a guild system will also enrich the experience. It will make it easier to launch new community games, find trusted players, and share advice.

Global voice system
As part of our commitment to accessibility and feature unification , we plan to implement a voice system fully integrated into the entire ecosystem. The goal is simple: to centralize everything in one place . You join your group of friends, enable (or disable) voice chat , and stay connected whether you’re creating, playing, or adventuring.
By developing our own voice chat , we can go even further with unique features such as proximity chat or automatic movement between virtual voice rooms . This allows players to be grouped or isolated based on their position on a Board, for example. We’ll go into more detail about these possibilities in the dedicated sections!

Smooth touch system
In parallel with the development of Minimal Roleplay, we are also working on the technology that forms its foundation: Napi. This is a proprietary technology of Minimal Roleplay, whose fourth version has just been completed, while Minimal Roleplay itself is currently at version 3.

This new version introduces numerous changes and brings a series of major optimizations. Among the most notable is the integration of a “zero stutter” technology , which will make the entire application smoother and ensure a significantly more seamless browsing experience on Minimal Roleplay.

A new mobile experience - Hello Prism
We know that the Minimal Roleplay app still has its shortcomings: stuttering, clunky UX, and so on. To understand why, you first need to know how the app is built. It’s a webapp , essentially a website wrapped inside a mobile app that just runs a browser behind the scenes.
So why not build a native app directly? Simply because it would require an enormous budget to recreate the entire ecosystem, and keeping features in sync between the browser version and the mobile versions would be extremely difficult.
For now, the mobile version is essentially the same as the browser version, adjusted using responsive design . In short, we just make sure everything lines up properly on smaller screens. It works… but it’s not enough.
That’s why, in addition to the Smooth Touch System , which will bring much smoother performance across the ecosystem, and alongside a complete redesign of all navigation interfaces , we’re officially announcing a brand-new design system: Prism .
The name might sound a little fancy, but it represents our new way of building user interfaces and user experiences. With Prism , we’re moving beyond responsive and creating dedicated mobile interfaces , built to deliver smoother, simpler navigation.

Help center
Announced several times already, the Help Center is finally about to launch. Minimal Roleplay is becoming increasingly rich, and while development remains focused on user experience, there are gaps that only dedicated support can truly fill.
A wide range of articles will be included: essential basics to get started with Minimal Roleplay, as well as more advanced content such as guides and tutorials for development within Minimal Adventures, along with detailed explanations of the more complex mechanics of Boards and the wider ecosystem.
The Help Center will be accessible contextually , through small pink markers displayed right where you are, without ever leaving the page you’re on. It will also be available in open access, even without logging in, similar to many classic 1.0 interfaces, so you can read the articles from any device, wherever you are .

Global translations
Thanks to Lucienne, whom you will discover later in this presentation, the language barrier on Minimal Roleplay will gradually disappear. The entire platform will be automatically translated according to the user’s language . This applies not only to interfaces but also to all creations : character sheets, scenarios, adventures, Campfire posts, and even play-by-post sessions.

Exploration access
Minimal Roleplay currently requires users to be logged in to access its features. That makes sense: to play, save your content, or interact with others, a user account is necessary.

Streamers features
The number of streamers is steadily growing, and role-playing games are taking an increasingly important place on Twitch and YouTube. We are fully aware of this, especially since we already collaborate with many content creators.
Streamer integrations will allow all kinds of Minimal Roleplay-related information to be displayed on Twitch layouts: voice channel details, dice rolls, character sheet information, and more.
Eventually, these integrations will go even further. Viewers will be able to access game tables directly , open the character sheets of players on stream, read their play-by-post sessions , and even view their game boards .

Onboardings
Accessibility on Minimal Roleplay is essential. Today, as a new member, you are dropped into the ecosystem without much guidance: each session is separate, and few elements explain what is happening.
With the help of our dear Harold , we will create introductions (called onboardings ) for each of the main sections of Minimal Roleplay. These introductions will allow users to discover and understand the different parts of the platform, much like a tutorial, in a fun and engaging way.
Coupled with the exploration mode described earlier, these onboardings will enable everyone to get a solid grasp of Minimal Roleplay and its core features.

Shortcuts
To provide faster navigation and better ergonomics for our most dedicated players, we will create a shortcut interface and make Minimal Roleplay fully navigable by keyboard , just like in a game.
These shortcuts will be customizable and will allow users to navigate through Minimal Roleplay directly from the keyboard, for example to send a message, open private chat, or switch between sessions.
But we won’t stop there. While these shortcuts are useful on PC, many players use the Minimal Roleplay mobile app. On mobile, we will allow configurable touch shortcuts for actions such as swipes, multi-touch gestures, and much more.

Minimal Dice
Minimal Roleplay will feature a new public dice interface , allowing users to roll dice , from the simplest to the most complex, while taking into account your different dice skins . Perfect for spontaneous rolls or to show off your beautiful dice skins displayed in Minimal Collections, later on this page.

Reveal soon
This visual would spoil too much for you, don’t worry, you’ll see it soon!

Tokens improvments
Tokens are gaining powerful new features.
First, you can apply different borders , perfect for adding variety and further customizing your monsters or characters.
Second, a highly requested feature: resizable tokens , allowing you to represent creatures both massive and tiny.
Third, direction ! A small arrow will show which way your character is facing, simple and effective.
Finally, you’ll be able to attach information or documentation to your tokens, for example, a monster sheet or any other useful data (also a character sheet, or a NPC from your game), visible or hidden from players. A simple click on a token will display a complete list of all the information linked to it.

Milky Fog
We’ve been working on the fog system for a long time, and it has required numerous technological experiments. Our goal has always been to create a fog with an organic look and feel, rather than a mechanical one. There are countless algorithms and infinite possibilities, but with the challenges of the web and cross-device compatibility, performance is critical and has brought many constraints.

Our latest breakthrough, and by far the most promising, still requires a lot of work, but it finally seems to meet our requirements. We’ve named it Milky Fog : built on a shader system, it delivers a smooth, brush-like rendering. In the long run, it will pave the way for easier handling of dynamic lighting and much more.
Functionally, the fog can be applied automatically to images or added manually. The game master will have the freedom to create or remove it, either partially or completely, using a dedicated brush. Treated as a fully-fledged entity, the fog can be generated at will and manipulated directly from the layer interface in Minimal Boards.

Scenes & floors
In a role-playing campaign, there are often many locations to manage, each of which can be divided into sub-locations and levels. To address this complexity, we designed the multi-level scene system for Minimal Boards.
The idea is to allow game masters to create scenes representing locations and their sub-locations, for example: the city of New Pam, the port of New Pam, the tavern of New Pam, and so on.
Within these locations, levels (or boards ) can represent different sections of a place, such as the floors of a dungeon. The system remains highly flexible and open to the game master’s interpretation.
Players can navigate between these scenes and levels, either freely or according to the restrictions set by the game master. To move away from traditional menu-based navigation and enhance immersion, we’ve introduced a portal mechanic . The game master can link scenes or levels via these portals, and when players pass through them, they are automatically teleported to the corresponding scene or level. This approach preserves immersion while adding a gamified layer to our virtual game board.

Round-based system
After all, the turn-based gameplay , isn’t that why we play on a board? Let’s say… 80%! Jokes aside, we know it’s not always easy to handle DnD combat without it becoming tedious. That’s where Minimal Boards’ round system comes in: it automates combat and makes it much easier for players to follow.
This system puts players into a frozen mode where only the active player can take actions . You just select a field from the character sheet to act as initiative, and the players are ready. The active player takes their turn, then passes it along, and so on.
To make movement easier, it will also be possible to link the number of spaces a player can move to a value on their character sheet, which automatically resets at the end of each turn.

Decks of cards
Many role-playing games could benefit from a card system to make gameplay easier; spells, equipment, choices, random draws… Cards can be useful in countless ways, and that’s why we designed the card deck system for Minimal Boards.
These cards can be used and distributed in different ways. The first is by creating a draw pile directly on the board, where the Game Master can set the rules: how many cards to draw, who can draw them, and so on.
Each card can exist in four possible states on a board: “In a player’s hand,” “In the deck,” “Face up,” “Face down.” This makes handling intuitive: show a card to other players, take it back, discard it… When a player holds cards, they automatically appear at the bottom of their screen.
For the overall feel, we’re drawing strong inspiration from Balatro’s animation system, aiming to deliver a smooth and fun experience when drawing and handling cards. On the design side, players will be able to import their own visuals in PNG format, as well as use templates that support dynamic data.
With the arrival of Minimal Sheets 2 and its flexibility, cards will be linkable directly to character sheet fields. This allows equipment, items, or even spells to be turned into predesigned cards imported directly from the sheet.
And last but not least, this system will also open the door to playing board games and TCGs directly on Minimal Boards. A nice little bonus!

Action zone and metrics system
Some games, such as DnD, require calculations during tabletop combat. While we aim to automate these calculations as much as possible to keep combat smooth (see the rounds system section), we will soon add an advanced metrics system . It will allow displaying distances as well as action zones , such as explosion radii or lines of sight .

Link with character sheet
Character sheet values will now be able to link with Boards and your tokens . You have always been able to highlight one or more values for play-by-post , and these values can now be displayed directly next to your token: health bar, movement points, and more.
A special highlight can also be placed over the interface, functioning as an editable floating value , optimized for certain game systems.

Background music
Background music is coming to Minimal Boards, allowing you to add YouTube links or your own MP3 files .
Players will also be able to mute the music individually if they wish.

Layer system
Already partially implemented, the layer system will be enhanced to allow game masters to precisely view all objects on their boards: individual items, token groups, fog of war, images, and more.
This layer panel will allow you to quickly hide or show elements and organize the board efficiently, providing a valuable way to save time when creating your Boards.

Triggers
The triggers in Minimal Boards are a new mechanic that will allow you to set up events when a player moves onto one or more specific tiles.
For example: if a token lands on a tile, monster group A appears. Or if two tokens occupy a set of tiles, effect A is triggered and image A appears. This mechanic could be used, for instance, to turn off the lights in a room and make a trapdoor or a door appear .

Special effects
Effects are a new animated entity in Minimal Boards. They can be instantaneous , like a lightning strike when a chest is opened, or continuous , such as snow or rain in front of the player’s screen. These effects can also produce sounds .

Board state
Boards will now feature global states , which can be used for various purposes: day/night cycles, seasons, or even more complex changes.
Each asset in Minimal Boards can be linked to these states, allowing its display to vary depending on the active state. For example, a trigger (as described above) could randomly change the layout of a labyrinth where the players are moving!

Advanced search
Advanced search is coming to Minimal Play-by-post. It will let you pinpoint your results without having to scroll through endless pages. Inspired by Discord’s system, this feature can also take you directly to the message you’re looking for, with its surrounding context, so you can read it within the flow of the conversation without losing track.

Pins
If some messages are important to you during your game, pin them directly to your notebook . This way, you’ll never lose track of the essential information from your session.

Advanced Spectator Mode
The spectator mode already exists in Minimal Play-by-post, but it is limited and inconvenient . With this new system, it will become an interactive book , where your progress as a spectator is saved. Page by page , you can follow the adventures of the sessions you are watching.

Reveal soon
This visual would spoil too much for you, don’t worry, you’ll see it soon!

Game Exports
To complement the spectator mode mentioned above, we are envisioning a theater-style export of game sessions . This format can be printed and even exported as an ePub .

Dice Preparation
The game master can now prepare dice rolls for their players , saving time and avoiding the back-and-forth of simply asking for a roll. The GM sets the roll, and the player just needs to click on the pending message to make the roll.
Additionally, it will be possible to set automatic responses to these rolls. For example, if the roll is higher than 10, a specific context message is sent; otherwise, a different message appears. This greatly reduces friction in message-based gameplay.

Automatic Translation
As mentioned earlier, the language barrier, a major obstacle to accessibility on Minimal Roleplay, will gradually disappear . Minimal Play-by-post will be one of the first elements to benefit from automatic translations , making it possible to play alongside people whose language you do not understand.

Scene & Visibility
On Minimal Roleplay, the current visibility only allows you to specify whether a message is meant for a single player or a group. While functional, this system is cumbersome to configure .
The new system will replace it: it will still allow you to whisper to an ally , but in a much simpler and more intuitive way . Most importantly, it introduces the concept of a scene .
A scene is a shared environment where certain players interact. Only participants in the scene (excluding the Game Master) can see the messages exchanged, providing automatic visibility .
Example: one group is in the city of Garine, while another explores the mountains to the east. As long as I stay in the city, I only see my group’s messages. If I move to the mountains, I simply switch scenes : my messages will automatically go to the other group, but I won’t have access to their previous conversation history.

Backgrounds
Goodbye to the original mysterious purple background of Minimal Play-by-post! You will now be able to change its color , or even replace it with an image or a video .
The scene system will also benefit from this feature: depending on the scene, you can apply a different background to your game table .

Music
Soundscapes are also coming to Minimal Play-by-post. You will be able to add background music to your scenes (see above), whether it comes from YouTube or your own MP3 files .

Advanced Macros
The current macros are quite basic: they allow sending messages, rolling dice, or using character sheet values. However, our members want to go much further.
Upcoming features include:
- Conditionals: IF (1d20+@modStr, “>”, 15, “Success”, “Failure”)
- Advanced logic: AND(f1,f2,f3), OR(f1,f2,f3), NOT(f1)
- Picker from a list: PICK("Sunny", "Rainy", "Cloudy", "Windy", "Snowy", "Stormy")
- Advanced math for dice: square, modulus, etc

Shared Macros
Macros , through Minimal Libraries (introduced later on this page), can be shared across your games . You will also be able to make them public for your players or the entire Minimal Roleplay community.

Scrambling System
We love immersion , and language is an amazing tool to simulate in play-by-post. That’s why we are introducing a cipher system : all letters of a message can be replaced with random characters if the player does not have a specific skill or attribute on their character sheet, for example a language.

Minimal Adventures 2
To understand why we are launching Minimal Adventures 2 , you need to know the history of Adventures . Originally, Adventure was just a tutorial for Minimal Play-by-post, and the story you played, Minimal Mansion , served as its introduction. That’s why the game layout was the same as PBP.

Reveal soon
This visual would spoil too much for you, don’t worry, you’ll see it soon!
Over time, we realized it would be great to make Adventure the official solo mode of Minimal Roleplay . We developed an editor that gradually evolved into what it is today.
Minimal Adventures 2 is the culmination of the solo mode , featuring a fully adapted layout that creates a much grander experience than before.

Scenes
Add scenes to your adventures: each scene immerses your players in a rich environment with a dedicated background . Minimal Adventures 2 remains a scroller , but you can scroll up through messages . As you move through the scenes, you will experience the different backgrounds and music unique to each scene.

Musics
As mentioned earlier, music is also coming to Minimal Adventures and will be linked to scenes . This will help enhance immersion for your players. You can use YouTube links or your own MP3 files .

Sound effects
A new feature in Minimal Adventures will be the addition of sound effects tied to messages or interactions. They will trigger instantly when a player encounters them, perfect for spell sounds or even voice-overs .

Inputs
Pre-fill certain elements of the character sheet by prompting your player . Ask them to enter text or numbers , and shape the rest of your adventure based on their input.
ou can also compare these values to trigger an interaction or response , just like you currently do with other game mechanics.

Global achievements
Achievements will be public , allowing you to compare yourself with other players based on the percentage of people who have completed them.
Let’s now talk about the Minimal Adventures editor .

Impacts middlewares
Impact middlewares will be added. The name might sound unclear, so here are some examples: you’ll be able to create blocks that execute automatically , without needing to manually connect them.
This can be used to check a player’s hit points after each action, or redirect a player to an exit as soon as a value on their character sheet changes, and much more.

Addition of comparators
Currently, you can compare a few things , but it’s limited. We will allow you to compare anything and everything , unlocking an infinite number of new possibilities .
At any moment, to display a response or trigger an interaction , you’ll be able to compare your character sheet , your dice rolls , or other variables , in short, anything you can imagine .

Complete overhaul of the editor
Originally, we made a technological misstep with the Minimal Adventures editor. As it stands, it doesn’t allow us to guarantee optimal performance . Over time and with usage, we’ve also learned a lot about the editor’s ergonomics , and we believe it now deserves a complete overhaul .
This overhaul will introduce numerous new features that were difficult to implement before: grouping, multi-selection, history , and most importantly, a significant improvement in performance and smoothness .

Minimal Sheets 2
Minimal Sheets was the first module we developed after Play-by-post, which means it dates back quite a while. Today, its structure no longer meets our expectations , especially in terms of smoothness and customization .
Minimal Sheets 2 is a complete overhaul that will transform many aspects of Minimal Sheets. You’ll enjoy greater fluidity, enhanced customization , and new interfaces better integrated into your games. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

Available as a

Advanced customization
The new sheets will be far more visually customizable .
Field styles : you’ll be able to modify input styles using several default templates, each configurable. Labels can be shown or hidden, placed above, below, or beside the fields.
Section customization : choose custom backgrounds and borders , with an integrated tool ensuring a clean display across all resolutions, on both large and small screens.
Overall background : the sheet’s general background can be customized. Ergonomic options will allow you to easily propagate changes from one field to all others and make global modifications across the entire sheet .

Advanced grids
A Pixel Perfect grid will be implemented, allowing you to resize and arrange all fields freely to create the layouts you envision.
This grid will also ensure consistent display across different resolutions , both on mobile and web browsers. However, you will still be able to preview and adjust your sheets for each resolution to achieve the best result.

Virtual elements
Virtual fields are pre-calculated fields. You can enable the virtual property on text or number fields to automatically compute their final value .
Examples of possible calculations:
- {value}% → 50% (value returns the field's current value)
- +{FLOOR(@strength-10)/2} → +2 (for a DnD modifier; the field’s value is not considered)
- {10+@modDex+value} → 14 (for calculating AC in DnD; the value represents equipment bonuses)

New elements
The Hints element will let you add text or fixed elements directly into the character sheet sections.
The Tabs element will allow you to group fields into tabs for better organization.

Conditionals elements
Conditional elements are coming: they will only appear if one or more conditions are met.

Game onboarding
The creator of a character sheet will now be able to add an onboarding to their sheet. During the initialization of a game, a player’s sheet can be automatically populated : field entries, class selection, and other choices.
This system will also provide a better integration of pre-generated characters , making them far more visible and easier to use than in the current Minimal Roleplay.

Import and export
You will be able to store your completed sheets in your Library (see below on the page) to reuse them in other games. This type of file is similar to pre-generated sheets, but we separated it because it serves a different purpose.

Dark mode
A dark mode joins the party, here to stop burning your eyes at night!

Adding tables
Tables are a valuable resource in our scenarios, especially for handling random rolls , deciding events, or other actions. We will therefore integrate them directly into the Minimal Scenarios notebooks .

Strong link with Sheets
The integration with Minimal Sheets will be strengthened. From now on, a character sheet assigned to a scenario can directly interact with the players in your game. For example, you can include items that are assigned directly to a player’s character sheet, or modify certain values on the sheets, such as inflicting hit points to all characters at once, making your job as Game Master much easier.

NPC creation
The glossary will be improved, allowing you to automatically generate non-player characters that you can then roleplay in your games.

Drawing system
A random draw system will be implemented to help manage randomness. Using the tables in Minimal Scenarios , you will be able to draw a random value with a single click!

Redesign of integrations
All link integrations, those previews that appear when you share a link, will be completely redesigned. We will add all relevant sites for the role-playing world and integrate Minimal Roleplay content much more efficiently, including game links, spectator modes , and more .

Initial Blocking
If you’re new to Campfire, know that we do everything to keep this social network safe, including automatically monitoring posts . We will strengthen these controls by requiring new authors to publish a guided introductory post created with Minimal Roleplay. These posts will be reviewed by the team before granting full posting access on Minimal Campfire.
This approach both restricts bots and spammers and ensures that each account maintains a minimum level of activity.

Post suggestions
We will implement a system, closely linked to the quest system , to suggest posts for you to write: your first RPG experience, the latest TTRPGs you’ve tried, and many other topics. The goal is to breathe new life into Minimal Campfire while helping members get to know each other better.

Minimal Libraries is a new cornerstone of the Minimal Roleplay ecosystem. It can be seen as the Dropbox or Google Drive for the platform’s roleplayers. Its purpose is to centralize and harmonize the creation, sharing, and management of your content on Minimal Roleplay.
All your creations will now be stored in your Library . Every asset you import will also find its place there. Thanks to Minimal Libraries, the use of this content will be standardized and fully integrated across all parts of the Minimal Roleplay ecosystem.
Public galleries will be directly fed by the content you choose to make accessible from your Library.
In the future, we do not plan to impose any storage limits on Minimal Libraries.

Lucienne
Lucienne has uncovered a striking statistic: after analyzing all active multiplayer games (Play-by-Post & Boards) on Minimal Roleplay, it turns out that more than 90% show signs of generative AI usage. This includes illustrations for settings, character avatars, as well as text generation, translations, and reformulations.
Our stance is clear and stated earlier: we will not use generative AI for official designs and illustrations on Minimal Roleplay . However, we cannot prevent our members from using it in their own creations.
To address this reality, we are introducing Lucienne, our librarian . Since generative AI seems inevitable, we’ve chosen to take control by integrating it ourselves and implementing clear identification solutions.
Lucienne will be our dedicated AI. She will allow members to generate conten (images, text, and audio) for their role-playing games and creative projects. This decision has three key benefits: offering members potentially more ethical AI, providing a service directly integrated into Minimal Roleplay, and above all, ensuring systematic identification of generated content. If Lucienne generates, Lucienne tags. And she is strict: every AI-created asset will be flagged and clearly identifiable.
In practice, Lucienne will let you automatically fill out forms: need an NPC? You’ll be able to generate one instantly based on your preferences, just like your character sheets. She will also offer content translation, along with spelling and grammar correction. Finally, this integration allows us to provide an option to completely disable generative AI in your games, for those who prefer not to use it.
We cannot stop the rise of these tools, but we can at least inform, guide, and make their use transparent .

Creation and File Types
Minimal Libraries can host a wide variety of content. If you are familiar with the current version of Minimal Roleplay, you’ll notice that the Creator Space is being replaced by the Library : from now on, you will create all your content for Minimal Roleplay through the Library. Here’s an overview (non-exhaustive) of the types of files supported:
- Character Sheets: Sheets created in Minimal Sheets will have their own file type.
- Scenarios: Scenarios created in Minimal Scenarios.
- Adventures: Adventures created in Minimal Adventures.
- Boards: Game boards created in Minimal Boards.
- Images: All your images will be stored in your Library.
- Cards: Cards created via Minimal Boards decks or character sheets (cards field), allowing you to build collections like spells, equipment, etc.
- Macros: Macros created in Minimal Play-by-Post and Minimal Boards.
- NPCs: All your non-player characters will also be available in your Library.
- Pre-generated Sheets: Pre-filled versions of your character sheets.
- Sounds: You can upload or create sounds and music via Lucienne.
- Tokens: Your tokens created in Minimal Boards.
- Tiles: Tiles created in Minimal Map.
- Maps: Maps created in Minimal Map.
Everything you create within the ecosystem will go through your Library. This is where you will manage all your files and control their availability across the Minimal Roleplay ecosystem, whether private or public.

In-Game Uses
Everything you create should be usable across the entire Minimal Roleplay ecosystem. We are enhancing the integration of these files so that they are available whenever you need them. Access to your Library will open automatically depending on the context. For example, if you need a card for one of your character sheets, you can either create one or select one from your Library. Your Library will ensure that the most relevant files are provided based on your current context.

Folders and Organization
One of the goals of Minimal Libraries is to let you organize your files much more precisely than you can today. You can structure your content by role-playing game, by session, or simply leave it all as a mess, whatever suits you best.
Minimal Libraries will make this easier by offering filters by file type, usage, or creation date, as well as the ability to group files into folders, rename them, and more. A classic file explorer, but perfectly tailored for us role-players!

Sharing and public galleries
As mentioned earlier, let’s now look at the technical side: how will it work? It’s very simple: any content you create can be added to the Public Library with a single click. Once made public, all your creations (cards, scenarios, boards, etc.) will be accessible to all Minimal Roleplay members. A true goldmine, self-sustained by the community, and potentially including official content in collaboration with role-playing games from around the world in the future.
It will also be possible to share private content with other members, for example with your friends.
Any content made public will be reviewed by a member of the Minimal Roleplay team and must comply with the platform’s terms of use, respecting all rules and intellectual property rights.

Imports and Converters
We will allow documents to be imported directly into Minimal Roleplay. For sounds or images, it will be simple, and this feature will also be available for all other types of content, including character sheets and scenarios.
We will make it possible to import from other software. For example, importing a character sheet from DnDBeyond will automatically generate a pre-filled sheet for DnD5. Similarly, it will be possible to import content from Notion or Obsidian and convert it directly into a Minimal Scenario.

Collectibles Galleries
The collectibles will be numerous and usable throughout the Minimal Roleplay ecosystem: in your games for stickers and dice , or on your profile for titles , titles , and ornaments . Here’s an overview of all these rewards:
- Dice: After all, is a roleplayer really a roleplayer without dice? More on this in the next section.
- Stickers: Small rewards you can stick on your roleplayer card and use directly in your games.
- Titles: Epic or funny labels that appear on your profile and wherever your username is displayed: Campfire, Play-by-post, etc.
- Badges: Rarer rewards displayed under your roleplayer card, representing a role or achievement within the world of Minimal Roleplay. They can be unlocked during special events.
- Roleplayer card themes: Give your roleplayer profile a unique style. Depending on their rarity, some themes can even be animated!
- Merch: Who knows?

Dice Types
Let’s take a moment to talk about dice , because there’s a lot to cover! First, the possibilities : our 3D and physics dice engine allows us to create unique mechanics and explore nearly limitless options.
The shapes of the dice can vary: sharp , soft , or even exotic shapes.

The sound produced when dice collide with other dice or the environment is also configurable. Imagine a die that plays a musical note when it lands!
All these parameters can react to the environment : a color changing when a die hits another, a texture changing based on the die’s result, or an effect triggering around or in the environment when a die hits a wall.

All these dice will be organized into collections and ranked by rarity , likely in seasons . They can be unlocked through the shop , boosters , or during special events .

Boosters
We love randomness , and opening boosters is one of the most exciting parts of TCGs. We’ve often wondered why this has never been done for dice … Probably because of limited possibilities and the high costs in the physical world. But in the digital space , we can finally make it happen!

Shop
The shop is one of Minimal Roleplay’s core economic pillars, we’ll go into more detail later in this page. This is where you can spend your dice fragments , the virtual currency of Minimal Roleplay. You’ll be able to earn fragments throughout the ecosystem: by participating in events , completing daily quests , and more.

Finally, the shop will also let you subscribe to Minimal Roleplay Premium , unlocking the ultimate experience . As an added bonus, your subscription will grant you a monthly allowance of dice fragments , perfect for making regular additions to your collection .

Quests
Quests in Minimal Roleplay will be presented by Harold , and they serve several purposes. The first is to reward your investment in the ecosystem, your participation is vital to keeping it alive. Harold will encourage you with a variety of tasks: trying out new creations, building your own, and staying active in your games. Each completed action will earn you dice fragments , which you can then spend in the shop to chase the dice of your dreams.

The second purpose of quests is to boost engagement and ensure more consistent participation in public games on Minimal Roleplay. We know that playing with strangers can be challenging, especially when it comes to keeping a steady rhythm. With the quest system, we’re confident that players will become much more involved in your multiplayer adventures .

Minimal Map is a major new addition to the Minimal Roleplay ecosystem. It will enhance the experience of Minimal Boards by introducing a map creation tool .
As always, we don’t want to deliver something that already exists. While many mapping tools are out there and highly effective, our goal is different: to design a tool that is more colorful , with a unique identity inspired by Ankama’s creations , such as Dofus .
We aim to build a tool that is simple , reusable , and accessible to everyone, with a polished aesthetic and a quasi-isometric view that will fit seamlessly with the perspective of Minimal Boards and our tokens.

Tiles creations
A tile is made up of blocks, with a minimum size of 3x3. Each block represents a single cell and displays a ground texture such as grass, stone, or water. Combined together, they form a tile.

Once the ground of the tile is set, you can place objects on it, trees, furniture, bushes, and other details. When your tile is complete, you can save it and use it to build your maps .

Contextual tiles
Blocks and objects will have contextual styles . For example, a grass block can appear during the day or night, with different shades like yellow or pink, or even covered in snow or under rain .

Tiles created this way can also respond to the global states of Minimal Boards (as described above) and change automatically according to these conditions.

Available as a

Map composition
Map composition is done by placing multiple tiles, but we want to make it more dynamic using random generation and variation systems . Tiles can be randomly selected from collections (for example, all desert-type tiles from Minimal Roleplay collections).
Additionally, each tile can be randomly rotated , adding even more variety.
This approach gave birth to the tile brush , allowing you to create an entire map from a limited number of tiles, without visible repetition .

Simulated 3D
Creating 3D to represent elevation on this type of board is quite complex. However, we have developed an effective strategy that preserves the benefits of a 3D board while giving the illusion of a true 3D environment . To achieve this, we add thickness to the tiles , so that the transparency of the tiles placed in front gives the impression that those behind are lower. An example will make this clearer.
We have also worked on a 3D mechanic for tokens . Combined with Minimal Map, this will provide a sense of volume for the objects on your maps.
The Minimal Roleplay Butler will take center stage, guiding you through a wide variety of role-playing games and gameplay styles. Its mission is simple: to help everyone, regardless of experience, dive into the world of role-playing, explore new games, and embark on adventures without needing any prior preparation or knowledge.
An assistant, not a replacement
The experience of role-playing games is most meaningful around a table, with a Game Master and players. The Minimal Assistant isn’t meant to replace anyone, it’s here to support session members whenever needed, whether by assisting the GM or helping to streamline gameplay.
For text, voice and in-person gaming
While you can enjoy role-playing games on Minimal Roleplay in both text and voice formats, we recognize the unique charm of in-person sessions with friends . The Minimal Roleplay Assistant can also support you during your IRL games , making your tabletop experience smoother and more enjoyable.
A library of TTRPGs to discover
With the Minimal Roleplay Assistant , our goal is to guide you through a diverse library of role-playing games , presented in an intuitive, Netflix-style interface . We aim to showcase both independent creations and popular titles , ensuring that every worthy game gets the attention it deserves.
To play quicky, at any time
Discovering and playing with the Minimal Roleplay Assistant is instant and effortless : no preparation, no hassle, just like picking a video game or a series. See a world that catches your eye? Click, invite your friends, and jump straight into the adventure!
More than just a Player's tool
Beyond just helping players, the Minimal Roleplay Assistant is designed to fit anywhere , bars, conventions, and any place where the urge to start a role-playing session might strike spontaneously!
