A look back at the business models and the founding chests

Dice shards

Dice shards are the virtual currency of Minimal Roleplay. They can be purchased but also earned through actions in Minimal Roleplay, such as quests, for example! They will be used to buy cosmetics, like dice sets, titles, or even role-playing cards. Probably many other things will be unlockable with these shards, we'll keep you updated!

To simplify the calculation, one shard will be equal to one euro cent. So, 100 shards equals €1. No hassle with conversions. Similar to various games using in-game currencies, several packs will be available from €3 to €75, with a bonus ranging from 10% to 30%, depending on the price. A picture is worth a thousand words, here are the rates we plan and their availability:

Subscriptions

Subscriptions will unlock features on Minimal Roleplay. Of course, MRP will always remain playable for free. However, certain features will not be available. Let's go over it!

Free version

Let's start with the free version! The idea is that you can play on all the games we offer, for free, no matter what. We believe it's extremely frustrating to be invited to play and then find out you have to pay. The player experience on Minimal Roleplay should remain entirely free. So, you can join as many games as you want as a player.

Regarding the Game Master part, we limit the experience, but you can still have one simultaneous game as a GM.

Advanced features, such as game freezing, visibility, editing the structure of a character sheet, editing the scenario, etc., will be blocked. However, you can still select scenarios and character sheets from public galleries. Only their modification will be blocked.

Finally, the creators: Minimal Adventures, Minimal Scenarios, and Minimal Sheets will also be reserved for paid subscriptions.

Player Subscription

The first subscription is for players. This refers to people who use the virtual tabletop of Minimal Roleplay. They play and need to unlock all the game features.

Thus, you have the ability to launch as many games as you want as a Game Master and, of course, access to all their features. For oneself and for the players in our games. One subscription is sufficient to unlock all the features for our players!

Access to creators remains blocked for this subscription, however, in their games, the GM can fully create/modify their scenario and character sheet. However, they cannot export it as a template to edit on a larger scale.

Creator Subscription

Many Minimal Roleplay users do not play but use the tools of the Creator Space. We understand this well, and for this reason, we have created a dedicated subscription. With this, you will only unlock unlimited access to creators.

Minimal Adventures, which allows you to create solo adventures in a "choose your own adventure" style, Minimal Scenarios for writing scenarios, and Minimal Sheets for creating character sheets.

This subscription also opens the door to publication in the community galleries of Minimal Roleplay.

All-in-one subscription

Finally, for those who need all the features, a last all-in-one subscription will be available, with a price reduction, unlocking the ultimate version of Minimal Roleplay!

Information, Pricing, and Availability

Here are some miscellaneous pieces of information:

• Subscriptions will have no commitment; you can cancel them at any time.
• Subscriptions will be upgradeable; you will be able to switch from one subscription to another easily.
• Subscriptions will probably be available for purchase annually to save a percentage.
• Subscriptions will be available starting in early 2025.
• Each month, subscriptions will give subscribers a bonus amount of shards depending on the subscribed plan.
  

The dice collection

An eagerly anticipated feature, like all previous announcements, the dice collection will make its debut upon the official release of Minimal Roleplay in version 1.0.

Please note, the dice are still in the prototype stage and may potentially change during the 2024 development year.

There will be 5 rarities of dice available (common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary), and for each, variations will be unlockable, such as shiny, transparent, etc. We will revisit this in an article once we have finalized the system.

These dice sets will be unlockable by direct purchase in the store, as well as through the purchase of boosters.

Boosters

The dice sets of Minimal Roleplay will be unlockable through a very fun booster pack opening mechanic. Just like opening a booster pack of cards from any TCG, you will be able to randomly obtain Minimal Roleplay dice. We all love that thrill of discovering a rare card during an opening, a thrill that we want to recreate in Minimal Roleplay.

Boosters will cost 250 dice shards and will be available in the Minimal Roleplay store.

The shop

The store will be THE place to spend your hard-earned dice shards... Dice, boosters, role-playing cards, titles, and many other things await discovery... It will also be unique and rotating for each of you, so you can have exclusivity on certain loot that appears there, perfect for bragging to your friends.

Founding chests · June 2024

Now that you know all about the future business models of Minimal Roleplay, it's time to return to the present. We are launching the Founding Chests in June.

What is a chest?

A founding chest is a way to support and obtain loads of rewards before the official release of Minimal Roleplay. It's a kind of crowdfunding that will help us continue the development of Minimal Roleplay while keeping the family spirit that we love today. Without it, we couldn't continue for long because Minimal Roleplay costs a lot every month, and we are currently living off our personal savings.

This funding, through the founding chests, will simply allow us to develop the platform more peacefully.

• The offers of these chests will only be accessible before the launch of the official version 1.0 of Minimal Roleplay in 2025.
